Existing sites/initiatives
www.myhbtidays.com is not the first site related to HBTI. A quick search on Google lists so many initiatives. But most of these including unfortunately the official sites of HBTI, are either not-working or unmaintained. Also, none of the site gives a platform for informal interaction. Yes, there are communities on Orkut and groups on Yahoo but still they lack the exclusiveness. Apart from the just the right platform for this nostalgic content sharing, www.myhbtidays.com will would be techniquely the best so that we don't see the problems of slow speed, and other maintenance issues.

1. www.hbti.com : Created in 1999, Less then 10 pages in site. Till now 25028 visits. There is one Alumni form which is not working as per my experience.Pages like Home, History, Departments(which is blank), and Alumni are there also.I guess this is the best domain name for HBTI Kanpur website but not at all looks active.

2. www.hbti.ac.in : Official site these days. I am really sorry to say that but I found this link on 4th pages of Google search (7th link).I know this will come up soon but very few people were aware of this change from www.hbti.edu to www.hbti.ac.in. I also found some questions on Yahoo group about this. This search was old, now this website is at 2nd rank in google search.

3. www.anuragjain.com : Home page of 'Anurag Jain', A chemical Engineering passout of 1994.Comes second when we type HBTI on Google. Till now 116904 visitors, Not completely dedicated to HBTI, sort of home page. Still good traffic and more updated about news realted to HBTI Kanpur. There is whole webpae dedicated to HBTI Kanpur about news and events, but HBTI website link is not updated, seems Anurag is really busy in his Job and Family :-). 4. HBTI Alumni Yahoo Group : A successful group(started in 2003) where around 1400 people are registered, Out of them 300 Mail addresses are bouncing back so effectively 1100 people are present on this Group. There are various types of information available. Pictures, Files, Polls. Mails and Messages are posted without any category,Mostly mails are related to Jobs, Walk-in, On site Opportunity, seeking advice about company or Technical Help. Till now 6678 Messages Posted.Files are mostly list of people or company related probably paper examples etc.In Pictures section there are 36 albums.I guess good data collection but no presentation, promotion and administration. I guess this is the most active group exists for any interaction among harcourtians.

5. www.harcourtianalumni.org : Site Developed by CSE Department HBTI Kanpur. looking like official Alumni website and more official stuff there. Lacks professional look and feel. I guess updated recently for Alumni registration, and international Alumni meet.

6. www.hbti.edu : Not working

7. www.batchmates.com : I do not know how active this is, But there are 1413 people registered on this site, Forum is kind of dead, only 26 entries are there. I do not know who is holding ownership for this but seems very few people are using this as of now.

8. www.hbti.org : Not working

9. www.hbtik.com : Launched around 3 years back in June 2004, got 711 registrations at his site till now, This is site is nothing but one page, when you register and log in you get following things.
a) Search Alumni
b) Search on multiple criteria like company and birth dates
c) Lot of Google Adsense realted to VOIP(I do not know why?)
d) There is so called forum also but that is having only two items. Overall Nothing useful or nothing sentimental.But again good effort.
